FAQ
Before you call
Short answers to what people ask most. More are on the full FAQ page.
We barely use our fireplace. Does it still need attention?
Usually yes, just less often. Light use still leaves some soot, and an unused flue collects leaves, nests and rainwater. NFPA 211 recommends an inspection once a year, and that check tells you whether a sweep is even needed.
Can you service a gas fireplace or an insert?
Yes. Gas logs, direct-vent units and inserts all have venting and parts that wear. Tell us the model or snap a photo when you call, so the tech arrives with the right tools.
What is a spark arrestor and do I need one?
It's a metal mesh at the top of the flue that stops burning embers from leaving the chimney. On wind days near open hillsides that matters a lot. We can tell you whether your cap has one and if the mesh is still intact.
Our chimney cracked in an earthquake. Is it safe to use?
Don't light a fire until it has been looked at. Shaking can crack the flue liner or loosen brick at the roofline even when the outside looks fine. An inspection after a quake checks both.
Which cities do you serve?
Orange County from Fullerton to San Clemente, plus the Palos Verdes Peninsula, Torrance, Redondo Beach and Long Beach. Look for your city in the service area list.
What are your hours?
The line opens at 6 AM and closes at 10 PM, Sunday through Friday. Saturday is our day off, so forms sent that day get a reply on Sunday.
